"No, sir, I have no experience. But I'm a big fan of money. I like it. I use it. I have a little in the jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in."

That's the response Robbie (played by Adam Sandler) gives to an interviewer when asked about his experience with money (in the movie, "The Wedding Singer").

My knowledge about money is rather limited. One of the few things I do know about it is that it is impossible to live without adequate amounts of it. I have never thought of setting a strict financial goal1.

I happened to come across this money related blog and the first thought that crossed my mind was, "Hmmm... how did he generate that progress bar image?" Financial status or goals didn't cross my mind till later.

I've read2 that professionals are classified into three types depending upon their motivation:

  1. Task Oriented - motivated by the work they do.
  2. Self Oriented - motivated by personal success and recognition.
  3. Interaction Oriented - motivated by presence and actions of co-workers.

I'm guessing "for money" falls into category 2. I'd like to think I'm type 1 but let me be honest and tell you that money is a big deal and I wouldn't mind a lot of it, thank you very much.

Sometimes I wonder how it would turn out if I was obsessed with money rather than with computers or programming.
